Serena Wines is located in Treviso: the heart of the Prosecco region of Italy. The winery has been family run since its founding in 1881. The Serena winemaker, Ermes Busetta, has over 30 years of winemaking experience. The family boasts a tradition of over 100 years in the wine trade. In 2019, the hills where Serena’s Prosecco is produced became one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. The Site includes all the hills where Vinicola Serena and its vineyards are located. In recent years, when health and the environment have become major priorities, everyone is seeking healthier and more sustainable products, and Serena is no exception. Together with Venice’s Ca’ Foscari University, Serena Winery has started a research project to develop new energy-producing “photovoltaic” cells from its vinification waste. They also launched RafCycle®, a recycling project that gives a second life to the waste from wine bottle labels; the silicone paper backing for rolls of labels is re-used to create new ‘ecological’ labels.
